Culinary Competition 2017
The Culinary Competition is a highlight of the annual Taste of Australia program, providing culinary students the chance to compete for a scholarship to study culinary arts in Australia!
In 2017 this competition went national. 17 teams of culinary students in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Nha Trang competed in simultaneous heats on 18 April with winners flown to the final in Da Nang on 20 April, judged by Luke Nguyen, Australian-Vietnamese celebrity chef Ngo Thanh Hoa, Masterchef Korea winner and William Blue alumni Sid Choi, and Australian Consul General Karen Lanyon.
At the Culinary Competition Final, the winners of the second Taste of Australia Culinary Competition were announced to be the team from KOTO Hanoi – Nguyen Phuong Dieu and Nguyen Hong Quan.
The winning team received an all expenses-paid trip to Australia from the William Blue College of Hospitality Management and Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School to gain hands on experience in the kitchens of these world-class culinary institutes in Sydney!
We look forward to the next showdown of talented young Vietnamese chefs during Taste of Australia 2018!
